Q: Why am I finding such a wide range of prices from DJ services?
A: No two DJ services are the same. Some will charge you for set-up and take down, some for mileage, and even some will charge you more if your event is not on the ground floor! We feel these are all unnecessary fees. We simply charge one flat fee of $475 for 5 hours. The only "catch" is if you use us for more than 5 hours, and that's 5 hours of actual music being played, NOT for set-up and removal time. Our per-hour rate after your contracted time is $75.
Also, beware of "budget" DJs. Very often DJs offering rock bottom prices also have rock bottom equipment (i.e. home stereos and iPods), little experience, and are not professionals. The amount of fun your guests have at your event is what they will remember--make sure you put your event in the hands of a professional!
Q: Can we select the music that will be played?
A: Absolutely! We welcome your choices and will be happy to play what you want. There are usually a variety of ages to please and we have music for all available. We have the largest music selection in Ohio--over 260,000 songs! Many clients will choose some of their favorites and leave room for guest requests. If you are uncertain about the music, you can also just leave it up to us, and we will play to the crowd accordingly.
Q: Will the DJ make announcements or act as emcee for the evening?
A: Our professionals will make any necessary announcements and keep your guests informed throughout the event, but only at your request. We have all been at that wedding where the DJ was "corny"--the last thing you want at YOUR wedding. Therefore, we do not make any announcements unless they are prearranged. We can coordinate with you, or your planner, to make sure announcements are made as needed. Some necessary announcements may be but are not limited to: Request to be seated for dinner, announcing the prayer or toasts, the cake cutting, introduction of the bridal party, bride and groom first dance, father-daughter/mother-son dances, wedding party dedication, dollar dance, bouquet toss, garter toss, other novelties, and anything else through “last call”. Our professionals will be flexible to your changing needs throughout the event.
Q: What type of equipment do you use?
A: Our professional PA speakers and mixing equipment are all made by Behringer, a German company that makes high quality, superb sounding equipment. Music is stored on a 4 terabyte separate hard drive and controlled by professional DJ software via a laptop. Our wireless mics are Best Media digital mics and our lights are Chauvet & American DJ.
Q: Is your music all digital? I've heard that digital music is a "lossy" format (doesn't sound as good as CDs).
A: Our entire collection is digital, encompassing over 1.6 terabytes or 1,600 gigabytes of hard drive space. We bring backup hard drives to every event for redundancy purposes.
All of our music is ripped from CD at a bitrate of 256 kbps or above, with most at 320 kbps. What this means is that there is no audible difference between the CD and the digital copy. Some DJs will use lower bitrate copies to save hard drive space or because they simply aren't familiar with digital music. Either way, the sound quality suffers. The louder it gets, the worse it sounds--especially through professional PA equipment. For example, the average person who rips a CD with iTunes or purchases a mp3 from iTunes gets the default setting of 128kbps. The program uses that setting to save space on your iPod, but does so at a loss of sound quality. Our professional digital copies are twice to three times the quality of iTunes songs.
We are located in Upper Arlington (Columbus) Ohio. We service the entire Central Ohio area.

Q: What will the DJ wear?
A: Your DJ will wear a suit and tie unless you ask for something different. We look and act professionally at all times. However, if you'd like us in something else less formal or even theme clothing, let us know in advance. We are willing to accommodate your choice.
Q: What kind of payment do you accept and do you need a deposit?
A: We require a deposit of $150 in credit card, check, cash, money order or Paypal upon acceptance of your signed contract (Click to see our contract), and the remainder due two weeks before the event.
Q: What is Buckeye Entertainment's cancellation policy?
A: You may cancel up to 60 days before your event and we will refund your deposit ONLY if the event is also cancelled with your venue, less any credit card processing charges.
Q: Will you meet with us before the event?
A: Of course! Remember, great parties don’t happen by accident. We will meet with you as many times as you require for no additional charge. Your DJ should help you coordinate, organize and help plan your party itinerary to maximize you and your guest’s enjoyment of your celebration. Buckeye Entertainment makes this a major part of their entertainment service.
Q: Are you going to play songs like the Hokey Pokey, Chicken Dance, and Electric Slide?
A: Not unless you ask us to. We have a library of over 250,000 songs from 1930 to today and we encourage you to be a part of the song selection process. We have templates to help you guide the night, or you can just leave it up to the pros. Either way, songs like the Macarena will only be played if you want us to.
Q: Do you have a "Do Not Play" list?
A: Yes. Once again, we will meet with you to discuss your music tastes. If there are songs (or even a genre) of music that you do not want played, we will honor that request even if a guest requests a banned song.
